18th Police District Council

Robbery and Retail Theft Task Force

Chair: Brad Kessler with availability for a Co-Chair

Description:

Robberies and retail thefts have increased dramatically over the past several years. Many of these crimes are committed by individuals with a repeated history of committing crimes. Additionally, many of the crimes are committed by individuals under the age of 18, or with mental health concerns, or with addiction concerns. With extremely low solve rates, many of the individuals are not arrested for their crimes, and when arrested, may be released by the justice system based upon the level of crime. This Task Force will endeavor to collaborate with retail stores, commercial establishments, CPD, the Cook County Pubic Defender’s Officer, Cook County State’s Attorney’s Officer, and several other organizations and government entities to decrease the robberies and retail thefts in the 18th district.

Membership:

The Task Force will have up to 12 resident members. Each resident member must live within the 18th district and commit to having open mind to working collaboratively, creatively, and strategically.
